Invitation

The International Conference on Advances and Challenges in Medical Technology Translation (TransMedTech-2024) will be held in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India during December 12-14, 2024. This is organized along with the 16th National Conference of the Society for Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine (India) and 34th National Conference of Society for Biomaterials and Artificial Organs (India) and hosted by Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram India.

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is our great honor to invite all those who are working in the field of Biomaterials, Artificial Organs, Medical Devices and Implants, Tissue Engineering, Drug Delivery and Regenerative Medicine to showcase your forefront research work. Also, we warmly welcome the participation of researchers in medicine and dentistry, industry start-ups, medical device manufacturers and organizations in MedTech field.

Background
Biomedical Technology has been in the center-stage of modern research and development pursuits because it is directly related to healthcare and improvement of quality of life. The multidisciplinary approach combining medical specialties, engineering disciplines, biosciences and physical sciences, makes the area unique. Translational research in medical devices and diagnostics over the past three decades or so has brought out various products, services and procedures that helped patients to lead a longer and healthier life. The medical devices market in India is estimated over INR 90,000 Crores worth. The government is pledged to promote the biomedical industry with generous incentives. Four major clusters are operative now in India.
SBAOI, for the past 37 years, has been functioning as a forum for promoting biomedical science and technology in India. STERMI has also taken a cardinal role in promoting tissue engineering research and linking it with regenerative medicine. We witnessed spectacular innovations and breaking research in this area in various centers in India. Several proof-of-concept works have been followed up for translation. Numerous device ideas are in the pipeline. In this Conference, the organizers focus on the need of the Country in the present time – to make India self-reliant in biomedical devices by empowering domestic entrepreneurs with knowledge and techniques to take the challenge.

Theme
Various research groups working on Biomaterials, Tissue Engineering, Regenerative Medicine and Diagnostics are ambitiously looking forward to finding their inventions in clinical use. The levels of innovative steps, scientific knowledge and technical expertise needed for realizing a biomedical product are quite elaborate and intensive, which demands an inclusive approach to technology translation. The entrepreneur may require handholding from the institutions and involvement of the research team till the product is dissemination to society. The Conference is being organized to set up a platform for scientists and entrepreneurs to discuss the strategies for medical device translation. The participating research teams will get an opportunity to showcase their medical product development work and shake hands with interested entrepreneurs. The Conference will also bring the key agencies supporting medtech ventures and representatives of regulatory authority onto the stage, to support the translational ventures.

Conference Layout
The technical program will run in three concurrent sessions, with 3 Plenary, 16 Keynote and 45 Invited Lectures. It will include a dedicated session for industry-academia-regulatory interactive discussions where the delegates can interact with the experts in the field. There will be dedicated sessions for the North American and the European Chapters. A gathering of about 300 scientists and researchers is expected, from all parts of India as well as from abroad. We look forward the active participation of students in this exciting scientific event in which recent advances in the areas of Biomaterials, Tissue Engineering and Medical Device Technology will be presented and discussed. There will be a pre-conference Workshop on Medical Device Development on December 11, 2024, led by expert hands, for selected participants.
